Prices by channel
Delivery platforms take a commission, and takeaway packaging costs money. Channel pricing lets you charge a different price on those channels without maintaining a second menu.
- Plans
- Bistro, Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.
It is off until you turn it on
Section titled “It is off until you turn it on”The setting’s own help text begins: “Off by default: every channel uses the product list price.” Until you enable it, the Price on each menu item is the price everywhere, which is what most single-site restaurants want.
Turn it on at Setup → Tax and pricing → Channel pricing → Different prices by channel.
The three channels
Section titled “The three channels”| Channel | Setting | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Dine-in | Dine-in adjust % | Dine-In, Walk-In, Staff Meal |
| Takeaway / delivery | Takeaway / delivery adjust % | Pickup, Curbside, Delivery |
| Aggregator | Aggregator adjust % | Orders arriving from a marketplace platform |
Note that delivery is not its own channel. From the help text: “Delivery uses the takeaway item price; delivery fee is configured separately under Delivery.” That is a deliberate split — the uplift on the food and the charge for driving it are two different numbers.
The percentage
Section titled “The percentage”Each channel takes a percentage of the list price. The field’s hint: “Percent of list price. Use negative values for discounts (e.g. -5).”
So +15 on Aggregator marks everything on that channel up by 15%. -5 on Dine-in gives a
dine-in discount across the whole menu. 0 or blank leaves that channel at list price.
Per-item overrides
Section titled “Per-item overrides”A percentage across the whole menu is blunt — commission hurts more on a $9 side than on a $40 steak. So each menu item can override its channel prices with an absolute amount:
- Dine-in override (optional)
- Takeaway / delivery override (optional)
- Aggregator override (optional)
Each has a Use Settings % option to fall back to the restaurant-wide percentage.
The item form states the precedence: “List price (base). Optional channel absolutes below override the restaurant default % from Settings.” So an absolute override on an item always wins over the percentage.
When channel pricing is off, the item form says so instead: “List price used for all channels. Enable ‘Different prices by channel’ in Settings to set per-channel % or product overrides.”
Variants
Section titled “Variants”Variant option prices scale with the channel base. There are no per-channel variant prices and no screen to set them — see Variants and add-ons.
Channel pricing is not a discount
Section titled “Channel pricing is not a discount”If you want a time-limited price — happy hour, a Tuesday special — that is a scheduled pricing rule, not a channel price. Channel pricing has no schedule; it is always on for that channel.
