Receipts and tickets
Setup → Receipts & tickets covers two things that look similar and work differently: the switches that decide what appears on a receipt, and the layout editor that decides how it is arranged.
- Plans
- Bistro, Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- No. It is part of every plan that includes it and cannot be switched off.
What appears on a receipt
Section titled “What appears on a receipt”The settings screen — Customise what appears on printed and digital receipts — is a list of switches grouped by part of the document.
| Section | Switches |
|---|---|
| Header | Show logo · Show phone · Show email |
| Document | Show cashier name · Show table number · Show order type |
| Line items | Show item notes · Show item discounts |
| Totals | Show delivery fee · Show tip |
| Payments | Show card terminal details |
| Footer | Footer message, per language |
Plus print width, and a footer message you set per language — so a German receipt carries German footer text and an English one does not.
The logo switch uses your primary logo, not your storefront variants. See Business profile.
A Live Preview panel shows the result as you change it.
Email receipts
Section titled “Email receipts”| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Auto-send on payment | A receipt is emailed as soon as the order is paid. |
| Attach PDF | The receipt goes as a PDF attachment as well as in the body. |
| BCC owner on every receipt | Every receipt is copied to the owner. |
| Reply-to address | Where a guest’s reply goes. |
| Email subject | Set per language. |
BCC owner on every receipt is useful for a week and overwhelming for a month. Turn it on while you are verifying the setup, then turn it off.
Guests only get an email receipt if you hold an email address for them. On Take payment you can also send one on demand.
The layout editor
Section titled “The layout editor”Separate from the switches above, Edit layout changes the structure of a document rather than which fields appear. The dashboard states the rules up front:
System presets are read-only. Make a copy to customise blocks, then publish and set live. Every printer uses the Live layout for its paper width.
Three document types
Section titled “Three document types”Customer receipt · Kitchen ticket · Invoice
Each is scoped by purpose and paper width, and each can have a document language.
Draft, published, live
Section titled “Draft, published, live”| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| System | A shipped preset. View-only. Copy it to change anything. |
| Draft | Yours, saved, not in use. |
| Published | Yours, finished, available to be set live. |
| Live | The one printers actually use for that purpose and paper width. |
The order is fixed and the dashboard enforces it. Editing updates the draft only. Publish & set live to push the layout to printers after the next device sync. A draft cannot be set live until it is published — the button says Publish this draft before you can set it live. And a system preset cannot be saved over at all.
The two things that catch people out
Section titled “The two things that catch people out”Changes are not immediate on devices. A layout goes live on printers after the next device sync. A tablet that has been asleep keeps printing the old layout until it checks in.
Live is per paper width. Setting a layout live for 80mm does nothing for your 58mm handheld. If one printer changed and another did not, check the paper width on Printers.
Receipt layout preview
Section titled “Receipt layout preview”A separate preview page renders a receipt using your latest real order where there is one, and sample line items where there is not. The sample is marked Preview: sample data (no orders yet). Order # shown for layout only. — so a preview order number is never a real one.
