Your home dashboard
Overview is the screen the dashboard opens on. It is a grid of widgets over the top of Welcome back — manage your restaurant operations from here, and it is the one screen you can rearrange to suit yourself.
The toolbar
Section titled “The toolbar”| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Customize | Turns on editing. The button becomes Done. |
| Add Widget | Appears in editing mode. Opens the widget catalogue. |
| Refresh data | The circular arrow. Re-fetches the figures. |
The location you are working at is set in the header, not here — see the location switcher below.
What each widget counts
Section titled “What each widget counts”This matters more than it sounds. Two of these widgets look like they should agree and do not, for good reasons.
| Widget | The figure | The small print |
|---|---|---|
| Orders Today | Every order raised today, whatever its status | Includes unpaid and cancelled ones. Its second line counts new customers today. |
| Revenue Today | Today’s takings | Paid and part-paid orders only, cancelled excluded. An unpaid order is not revenue. |
| Pending Orders | Orders still at Pending | Awaiting confirmation or preparation — the queue to work through. Not the same as “all open orders”. |
| Total Customers | All-time guest count | Second line is their all-time order count. Scoped to a branch, it counts guests who have ordered at that branch. |
| Order Status Breakdown | Your orders grouped by status | All time, not today. |
| Revenue – Last 7 Days | Today and the six days before it | Fully paid orders only — part-paid orders count in Revenue Today but not here. |
| Recent Orders | The latest orders still in play | Completed and cancelled orders are not in this list. It is a worklist, not a history. For history use Reports. |
Adding, removing and reordering
Section titled “Adding, removing and reordering”Select Customize, then:
- Add Widget lists everything you do not currently have, each with its description, and an Add button. When you already have all of them it says All available widgets are already on your dashboard.
- Remove widget takes one off the grid.
- Drag a widget by its handle to reorder. The grid is four columns wide on a desktop screen; the chart and list widgets take a full row.
- Done leaves editing mode.
Your layout saves itself about a second after you stop changing it. There is no Save button.
If you remove everything, the grid says No widgets on your dashboard and offers Restore defaults, which puts all seven back in their original order. That is also the quickest way out of a layout you have made a mess of.
The numbers follow the selected location
Section titled “The numbers follow the selected location”If you run more than one branch, the header’s location switcher decides what the widgets count. All locations — combined view across branches — totals them. Pick a single branch and every figure on the screen narrows to it.
See Locations and branch offerings.
Finish your online restaurant
Section titled “Finish your online restaurant”Until your first sale, the home screen also carries a Storefront setup card: a short checklist of what is still missing before your public ordering page is worth sending anyone to, with a count of how many steps are done and a link into each one.
It can only be dismissed once the restaurant has actually taken an order, and it comes back by itself if the checklist is incomplete. That is deliberate — a ticked box is not a sale. See The go-live checklist.
Why a figure looks out of date
Section titled “Why a figure looks out of date”The dashboard figures are cached for two minutes. So:
- An order you just took may not move the numbers immediately.
- Refresh data inside that window can legitimately return the same figures.
Wait a couple of minutes, then refresh. This is for speed — the home screen would otherwise re-run several whole-table counts every time anybody opened it. The live view of service is the Orders screen, which is not cached; the home screen is a summary.
If the figures cannot be loaded at all you get Unable to load dashboard data right now. above the grid. The grid itself stays, so a failed refresh does not lose your layout.
What is not here
Section titled “What is not here”No register, kitchen display or floor plan — those are in the POS app — and no low-stock widget. Low-stock alerts live on the POS app’s dashboard and in Availability and stock.
