Locations and branch offerings
Setup → Locations manages branch addresses, map pins, and staff. Every restaurant has at least one location, including a single-site one — it is where your public address, phone and email now live.
- Plans
- Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.
- Limit
- Up to 500 (locations). Your own limit is set on your plan and may be lower.
The three tabs
Section titled “The three tabs”| Tab | Holds |
|---|---|
| Details & Contact | Name, URL slug, address, map pin, public phone and email, SEO title and description |
| Hours & Availability | The schedule and the manual open/closed override — the same data as Business hours |
| What this branch offers | Fifteen switches: order types, floor tools, guest extras, extended tenders |
Adding a branch
Section titled “Adding a branch”The URL slug becomes the branch’s address on your storefront, and takes lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only.
Country is not editable per branch. It is locked to the country on Localisation and applies to all branches. Address autocomplete is restricted to that country, which is usually helpful and occasionally annoying.
Pick the address from autocomplete
Section titled “Pick the address from autocomplete”Typing the address by hand works, but selecting it from Google autocomplete also stores a Place ID, and the Place ID is what later unlocks:
- Refresh from Google — pulls phone and business hours from Google Place Details. It overwrites what you have, and the dashboard asks you to confirm: Phone and business hours will be replaced from Google Place Details.
- Google reviews on your storefront — see Reviews and online presence.
- A working Maps link.
Without a Place ID, Refresh from Google refuses: Select an address from Google autocomplete first so we have a Place ID.
After you save a new branch
Section titled “After you save a new branch”The dashboard offers to copy another branch’s setup rather than leaving you with an empty menu:
- Copy catalog & categories from another location — duplicates that branch’s location-specific menu into the new one. Shared menus already appear everywhere, and the dashboard says so: This restaurant uses a shared menu — no copy needed.
- Also copy business hours & order availability.
Then switch into the new branch from the header to finish setting it up. Menu and schedule work always happens inside the branch you have selected, never from the Locations list.
Default branch and staff
Section titled “Default branch and staff”Set Default marks your main branch. The default is the one used where no branch is selected.
Staff assigns people to a branch, and the consequence is worth knowing: Staff only see orders and tables for their assigned location. Most roles must be assigned to a branch — owners and managers are the exception and may hold All Locations. Trying to save a waiter, cashier, kitchen hand, accountant or support-staff member without one fails with A location is required for this role. Staff cannot use All Locations. See Add a staff member.
What this branch offers
Section titled “What this branch offers”Fifteen switches, in four groups. The dashboard’s own description: Control which order types, floor tools, and advanced tenders appear on POS and related screens for this location only.
Order types
Section titled “Order types”Dine-in · Walk-in / counter · Pickup · Curbside · Delivery · Marketplace / aggregator · Staff meal
At least one order channel must stay enabled. The dashboard refuses to save a branch that can take no orders at all.
Floor and seating
Section titled “Floor and seating”Tables · Dining rooms · Reservations · Waitlist
These require dine-in, and the dependency is enforced both ways:
- Turning tables or dining rooms on turns dine-in on.
- Turning dine-in off clears tables, dining rooms and waitlist.
So a café that has switched dine-in off will not find a Tables screen, however many tables are in the database. See A menu entry is missing.
Guest extras
Section titled “Guest extras”Guest buzzer — shows buzzer and pager fields on walk-in orders.
Extended tenders
Section titled “Extended tenders”Guest room charge · House account · Bar tabs
These are the hotel and bar tenders. Cash and card are not here — they are under Payments and accounts. Each of the three records the charge against the order; the ledger side of them is not yet built, and the dashboard marks each one (ledger later). Treat them as a way to tender and track, not as an accounts-receivable system.
Shared catalogue and cross-location staff
Section titled “Shared catalogue and cross-location staff”Two further Enterprise features change how a group works:
- Plans
- Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.
A shared catalogue means one menu appears at every branch, so you edit it once. Without it, each branch keeps its own menu, which is why the copy-on-create offer above exists.
- Plans
- Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.
Cross-location staff lets one person work at more than one branch rather than needing a login per site.
Deleting a branch
Section titled “Deleting a branch”Possible, and lossy: Orders and tables in this location will lose their location reference. If a branch is closing rather than having been created by mistake, set it Inactive instead.
