The Register screen
Register is the counter checkout: a product grid on one side, a cart on the other, and two payment buttons at the bottom.
- Plans
- Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- No. It is part of every plan that includes it and cannot be switched off.
- Needs first
- POS and in-house orders. This stays off until all of them are in your plan and switched on.
Ringing up a sale
Section titled “Ringing up a sale”Tap products to add them. The cart shows Subtotal, the tax line, and Total. The tax line names the rate where there is one rate and says mixed rates where the cart spans several, and it says incl. when your prices already include tax — which is set once in Tax and pricing, not here.
Then either:
- Cash or Card — creates the sale and opens payment on the next screen.
- Place Order / Send to Kitchen — books the order without taking money yet.
Clear empties the cart, the table, the guest details and the discounts so you can start a new sale. It asks first.
Order types ask for different things
Section titled “Order types ask for different things”The order type decides which fields the Register asks for, and most of them are required:
| Order type | Register asks for |
|---|---|
| Dine-in | A table |
| Walk-in / counter | Tab or guest name, buzzer number — both optional |
| Staff meal | Employee ID |
| Curbside | Vehicle details |
| Delivery | Delivery address |
| Aggregator | The platform and its external order ID |
Order types explains what each one means for reporting.
Picking a table
Section titled “Picking a table”Select table opens a picker with search, a room filter, and a jump-to-table-number box. Free tables and occupied ones are marked, and an occupied table shows the order number it is already carrying.
If you pick an occupied table, the app does not silently create a second order. It asks:
Table 7 already has an active order (#1042). Add these items to that order, or choose another table.
Choosing Add to existing order turns the button into Add & Send to Printer, and the new items go onto that order and to the kitchen printer. This is the right behaviour for a second round of drinks, and it is what stops a table ending up with two half-bills.
- Plans
- Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.
- Needs first
- POS and in-house orders, Rooms and floor plan. This stays off until all of them are in your plan and switched on.
Taking payment
Section titled “Taking payment”Cash opens a cash sheet with the total due, an optional tip, and the change calculated as you enter what the customer handed over. Confirm Cash records it.
Card behaves according to how this device is set up for card capture, which is a per-device setting — see This device’s settings. In short: Auto lets the app drive Tap to Pay or a connected reader and records the payment only after the terminal approves; External terminal means you key the amount into your own card machine and then tap Card Approved in the app; Disabled hides Card on this device entirely.
Either way, the confirmation screen shows the order number, what was paid, the cash tendered and the change due.
A cash shift has to be open first
Section titled “A cash shift has to be open first”Cash payments need an open cash drawer shift or waiter bank on this device:
Open a till or waiter bank on this device before taking cash payments.
Card and Tap to Pay do not need one. Drawer shifts, floats and safe drops covers which roles may open which kind of shift — including the fact that the owner may open neither.
Discounts
Section titled “Discounts”Bill discounts are checked against the server, so they need a connection:
Connect to apply a bill discount
Everything else on the Register keeps working offline. See Offline behaviour.
Seats and courses
Section titled “Seats and courses”Where table sessions and seat tracking are on, each cart line can carry a seat and a course. The seat control is tap to increase, long-press to decrease. The course control cycles S starter, M main, D dessert. Together they produce a coursed, seat-numbered kitchen ticket, so the pass knows what goes out when and to whom.
A category can start its items on a course automatically, which saves tapping — see The menu on the device.
The product grid is empty
Section titled “The product grid is empty”Two different messages, two different causes:
- No products in this category — the category exists but holds nothing active.
- No products available — this device has no catalogue at all. Pull to refresh or sync the menu from this branch.
The second one is normal on a brand-new device, and the fix is Sync menu & device data under This device’s settings.
The two offline banners
Section titled “The two offline banners”They mean opposite things, so read which one you have:
Offline - orders save on this device and sync when you reconnect.
That is business as usual. Keep selling. Card Tap to Pay is the only thing that stops — Card Tap-to-Pay needs internet. Use Cash, or record Card to sync later.
Fiscalization requires internet. Orders and payments are blocked while offline.
That is a hard stop, and only appears where fiscalisation is required. A receipt that cannot be signed cannot legally be issued, so the app refuses rather than creating an unsigned sale. Get the connection back. See Fiscal and TSE (Germany).
