Order types

Every order carries exactly one order type. It decides which tab the order appears under, what prints at the top of the docket, and which extra fields the order detail shows.

Type Group Docket prefix
Dine-In In-house [DINE-IN]
Walk-In In-house [WALK-IN]
Staff Meal In-house [STAFF MEAL]
Pickup Online [PICKUP]
Curbside Online [CURBSIDE]
Delivery Online [DELIVERY]
Aggregator Online [AGGREGATOR]

The docket prefix is not decoration. A kitchen reading tickets off a spike sorts by it, and a pickup ticket that looks like a dine-in ticket is a meal that goes cold on a pass.

Dine-In — attached to a table. Gets a table number, and can carry a server, courses and seat numbers.

Walk-In — a counter order with no table. The default for a café or a food truck.

Staff Meal — an in-house order that is not a sale in the usual sense. Carries an Employee ID so it can be reconciled or deducted later.

Pickup — the customer collects. Carries a Buzzer # if your branch uses buzzers.

Curbside — a pickup you carry out. Carries a Vehicle field so your staff know what to look for.

Delivery — you deliver. Carries the delivery address, and the courier block (provider, courier job ID, courier status, pickup ETA, dropoff ETA, courier name and phone) when a courier integration is in use.

Aggregator — the order came from a marketplace. Carries Platform and Ext. Order ID so you can match it against the platform’s own report.

A manager or waiter can change an order’s type after it is created — a walk-in that turns into a dine-in when a table frees up, for example. It needs the manage orders permission and the branch must offer the type you are moving to.

If a type is not offered, it is almost always the branch offering, not your plan. Each location has its own switches for dine-in, walk-in, pickup, curbside, delivery, aggregator and staff meal, and the defaults follow the venue type you chose:

Venue type Offered by default
Restaurant Dine-in, walk-in, pickup, curbside, staff meal
Café / Quick service Walk-in, pickup, curbside, staff meal
Bar Dine-in, walk-in, staff meal
Hotel Dine-in, walk-in, pickup, staff meal
Food truck Walk-in, pickup, staff meal

Delivery and Aggregator are off by default on every venue type — you switch them on deliberately, per branch, under Locations and branch offerings.

Delivery integrations are additionally plan-gated to Signature and above. Switching the branch offering on does not by itself give you a courier provider.
