Stripe onboarding incomplete
An account that exists is not an account that can take money. Stripe needs identity and bank details before it will accept a payment, and until it has them your storefront will say payment is unavailable.
The four steps, in order
Section titled “The four steps, in order”- Submit legal details — Setup → Legal details
- Wait for approval — this one is us; the status reads Not submitted, Submitted, Under review, Approved or Rejected
- Create the Express account — only possible once approved
- Complete Stripe onboarding — in Stripe’s own interface
Step 4 is the one that gets left half-done, because it happens on Stripe’s site rather than in the dashboard. Go back into it and finish every item Stripe is asking for. Stripe asks for identity documents and bank details directly; we never see them.
The errors you may hit
Section titled “The errors you may hit”| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Create your Stripe Connect account before activating this rail. | You are at step 3, not step 4 |
| Save your Stripe Direct keys before activating this rail. | Wrong rail — you are on Stripe Direct |
| Verification failed. Check your API keys. | Stripe Direct keys are wrong |
Platform Connect is not self-serve
Section titled “Platform Connect is not self-serve”The Express account is assigned by RestroManage. Until it has been assigned, the panel says so and there is nothing on the screen to configure. Ask us rather than looking for a button.
If you would rather not wait, Stripe Direct is always available: you hold your own Stripe account and paste your own keys. Payouts, disputes and Stripe’s fees are then between you and Stripe. See Payments and accounts.
