The menu on the device

Products on the device edits the same catalogue as the dashboard, which means a price changed on a tablet is changed everywhere. Menu items covers the catalogue itself; this page is what the app lets you do to it.

Plans
Bistro, Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
Can it be switched off?
No. It is part of every plan that includes it and cannot be switched off.
Field Notes
Price The base list price
Cost price What it costs you — feeds food-cost reporting
SKU / Barcode Barcode is what the scanner matches on Register
Stock Leave blank for unlimited stock
Min Stock Level Below this, the item appears in Low Stock Alerts
Tax Rate Overrides the default rate for this item
Featured Promotes it on the storefront
Active Off hides it everywhere without deleting it

Veg, Vegan, Gluten Free and Halal are toggles on the item. They show to customers on the storefront and on the QR menu, so they are a claim about the dish — set them from the recipe, not from a guess.

Can it be switched off?
Yes — an owner or manager can turn it off under Setup → Features.

An item can be priced differently per channel: Dine-in, Takeaway / delivery, and Aggregator. One rule is worth knowing before you build a variant-heavy menu:

Variant option prices scale with the channel base — no separate variant channel prices.

So a large-size surcharge follows the channel base price automatically. You cannot set a different large-size surcharge per channel.

Channel pricing is off by default across the account, in which case every channel uses the list price and delivery shares the takeaway price. See Prices by channel.

Options and add-ons are not the same thing

Section titled “Options and add-ons are not the same thing”
Option groups Add-ons
Required? Yes — the group must be answered at checkout No — optional extras
Example Size, cooking temperature Extra cheese, a side
Price effect Option prices replace or adjust the line Charged on top of the line price

An option group carries a Max picks, and the item sheet on Register shows the rule to the person ringing it up — Required · choose up to 2, or Choose at least 1. The same sheet carries Item note and an Out of stock toggle for the rest of service.

Categories holds the menu’s structure, and three settings on it are easy to miss.

Default kitchen course. Each category can start its items on a course:

New register items in this category start on this course. Staff can still change S / M / D on the fly.

So putting the starters category on Starter means the kitchen gets coursing right without anyone tapping anything on Register. The options are None, Starter, Main and Dessert.

Needs first
POS and in-house orders. This stays off until all of them are in your plan and switched on.

Category colours. Useful for finding a category fast on a busy grid — but:

Applies on this device only.

Each tablet has its own colours. They are not synced, and they are not a customer-facing setting.

Order. Sort menu items and category reorder both work by long-pressing a row and dragging it. Order saves when you drop — there is no separate save button.

A deleted category is moved to trash rather than destroyed, so a category removed by mistake can be recovered from the dashboard. Items in it have to be dealt with first.

Changes need a sync to reach other devices

Section titled “Changes need a sync to reach other devices”

Another tablet picks up an edit at its next sync. If a price looks wrong on one device, run Sync menu & device data there before assuming the edit did not save — see This device’s settings.
