The Orders screen on the device
Orders is the device’s order history and its working queue. The orders screen explains the concepts; this page is about the app.
- Plans
- Brasserie, Signature, Enterprise
- Can it be switched off?
- No. It is part of every plan that includes it and cannot be switched off.
- Needs first
- Menu catalogue. This stays off until all of them are in your plan and switched on.
Finding an order
Section titled “Finding an order”Three controls, used together:
Search matches order number, customer and table.
Type filters: All · In-House · Online · Dine-In · Walk-In · Pickup · Delivery · Unpaid · Sync failed.
Period filters: Today · Yesterday · Last 7 days · All time.
The period is the one that catches people out, because search obeys it:
Your search only covers the selected period.
If an order is not turning up, tap Search all time rather than retyping the number. Load more pulls the next page where a period holds more orders than one screen.
The Sync failed filter
Section titled “The Sync failed filter”An order created while the device was offline, which the server has since rejected, is marked:
Sync failed - see Sync failed filter
Open it and you get two choices:
- Retry without changes — sends it again as it stands. Use this for a failure that was only a connection problem.
- Discard local order — This permanently removes the unsynced order from this device. It was never uploaded to the server. Nothing is deleted on the server, because nothing ever reached it. Use this for a duplicate or a mistake.
Offline behaviour explains what gets queued in the first place.
Reading an order
Section titled “Reading an order”The totals block runs: Subtotal, Discount, the tax line, Delivery Fee, Tip, Total. The tax line names the rate where there is one, and says mixed rates where the order spans several or incl. where prices already include tax.
Split Payments lists every payment taken, with:
Items: …— what that payment covered, or No items linkedRefunded … of …or Fully refunded where money has gone back- Numbered refund rows,
#1 Refund (card)
Paid and Remaining sit under it, and a dine-in order also shows how many of its parts
are settled — Paid 2/3 • Remaining $18.00.
What you can do to an order
Section titled “What you can do to an order”| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Update Status | Moves the order along — see Order statuses explained |
| Collect payment | Opens Taking payment |
| Add Items | Adds to an open order, then Add 3 Items & Send to Printer |
| Reprint kitchen | Sends the kitchen ticket again |
| Guest check | Prints the bill for the customer |
| Receipt | Prints the payment receipt |
| Prints the current document for this order | |
| Assign / Change table | Attaches the order to a table, or moves it |
| Change order type | Switches fulfilment channel |
| Change to cash | Re-tenders a card payment as cash, where the fiscal rules allow it |
Change order type carries a warning worth reading before you use it:
Switch fulfilment channel (e.g. pickup → dine-in). Paid orders keep their payment; tax is not recalculated.
So a switch between channels that are taxed differently does not restate the tax already recorded. Change the type before taking payment, not after.
Accepting and rejecting online orders
Section titled “Accepting and rejecting online orders”An online order that arrives with the card authorised but not yet charged shows:
Payment is authorized on hold. Accept to charge and send to kitchen, or reject to release the hold.
Accept charges the card and fires the kitchen ticket. Reject releases the hold so the customer is not charged, and takes an optional reason. Accept or reject an online order covers the customer’s side of it.
Due times
Section titled “Due times”Pickup and delivery rows carry a Due 6:45 pm label so the queue reads by time rather than by
order number.
