Online card payments: two rails, one active

Section titled “Online card payments: two rails, one active”

“Select one option, then complete its setup below. Only one online Stripe mode is active at a time.” Switching rails does not merge them — the one you activate is the one that takes the money.

You hold the Stripe account and paste your own API keys. Payouts, disputes and Stripe’s fees are between you and Stripe; RestroManage is not in the middle. Nothing has to be approved by us, which is why it is always available.

Save the keys before activating the rail. Activating first gives you Save your Stripe Direct keys before activating this rail., and bad keys give you Verification failed. Check your API keys.

Platform Connect — assigned by RestroManage

Section titled “Platform Connect — assigned by RestroManage”

An Express account created under the RestroManage platform. It is not self-serve: until it has been assigned to your restaurant the panel says so, and there is nothing to configure.

Once assigned, the flow is four steps, in this order:

  1. Submit legal details
  2. Wait for approval
  3. Create Express account
  4. Complete Stripe onboarding

Step 1 happens under Setup → Legal details and step 2 is us. The review status shows as Not submitted, Submitted, Under review, Approved or Rejected. You cannot create the Express account before approval — attempting it gives Create your Stripe Connect account before activating this rail.

Step 4 is Stripe’s own onboarding, in Stripe’s interface. Stripe asks for identity and bank details directly; we never see them. An account that is created but not onboarded takes no money, which is the usual cause of “my storefront says payment unavailable” — see Stripe onboarding incomplete.

“Terminal providers are assigned by RestroManage per restaurant. Coming-soon partners appear when assigned but not yet integrated.” So the list on your screen is specific to your restaurant: an entry marked coming soon has been assigned to you but is not yet live, and an empty list means none has been assigned. Ask us rather than looking for a self-serve option.

Separately from the rails, each location declares which tenders it accepts — Cash and Card. This is what the POS offers the operator at that till. Turning Card off at a takeaway counter that only takes cash removes it from the payment screen rather than leaving a button that fails.

Tenders are per location, so you need a location first: Add a location in Settings before configuring location-specific payment methods. See Locations and branch offerings.
